Safety Manager/Director - Drywall Contractor - Alexandria,VA

Our client, a well-established construction subcontractor with a growing national footprint, is seeking a Director of Safety or Safety Manager to lead and own their safety program across multiple regions. This is a leadership role with direct impact on company-wide safety initiatives, compliance, and field operations.

Description

• Oversee all aspects of OSHA compliance, workers' compensation, and safety policies.
• Partner with GCs and subcontractors across multiple sites to ensure adherence to safety standards.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate company-wide Safety Programs; increase safety awareness at the project level.
• Conduct job hazard assessments, generate reports, and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure all staff receive required safety training and certifications.
• Maintain and update safety policies, handbooks, and compliance documentation.
• Coordinate with field foremen and managers to enforce safety protocol

Profile

• 7+ years of safety management experience (open to strong junior candidates ready for a lead role).
• Background in General Contractor or Subcontractor environments; drywall oversight experience is a plus.
• Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC) certification required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to speak Spanish highly preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to manage multiple sites and team
• this is also an office based role with visits to sites
