Commercial Superintendent - Virginia
A progressive general contractor with over 80 years of experience is seeking a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent to lead commercial projects in the $5M-$10M range across the DC Metro area. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse project types-including healthcare, office, and higher education-within a collaborative, innovation-driven team environment.

This client is a well-established general contractor with over 80 years of industry experience and a strong presence across the Southeast, including a growing office in McLean, VA that has served the DC Metro area for over a decade. With approximately $100M in annual revenue and a local team of around 40 professionals, they specialize in a wide range of sectors including healthcare, commercial office, multifamily, higher education, and public projects-handling both renovations and base building work. Known for their progressive culture, they prioritize innovation, collaboration, and empowering team members to take ownership and grow.
Description
The Commercial Superintendent - Virginia will be responsible for:
- Coordinating daily field operations to meet project objectives, timelines, and goals
- Monitoring overall project progress and reviewing team practices for consistency, efficiency, and quality
- Assisting in maintaining and updating the project schedule and budget alongside Senior Superintendents
- Collaborating with subcontractors on recovery planning and holding regular meetings to address progress and remove obstacles
- Reading construction documents to determine requirements and guide planning
- Recording and maintaining reports including personnel data, production logs, project status, and other operational information
- Managing job site safety by actively walking the site, participating in inspections and training, and engaging with staff and subcontractors
Profile
The Commercial Superintendent - Virginia will have:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- 5-7 years of experience in construction management, including 1-3 years in healthcare projects and at least one project completed as a Superintendent
- Strong understanding of scheduling, cost management, and safety protocols
- Broad knowledge of construction trades, including carpentry, concrete, structural steel, and interior build-outs
- Proven experience leading field teams and managing performance across diverse crews
- Proficient with general computer applications, including Microsoft Office
- Must possess a valid driver's license
