Principal Mechanical Engineer
The Principal Mechanical Engineer is a key member of the engineering design team responsible for multiple aspects of mechanical design to include electronics packaging, systems engineering, and environmental testing. Responsible for design of new products from concept through manufacturing release as well as improving product yield and ease of manufacturing for existing designs.

Our Client is a leading designer and manufacturer of advanced power conversion equipment for the aviation industry. Their product range includes static inverters, frequency converters, transformer rectifiers, light dimmers, and power supplies, serving sectors such as commercial, military, and general aviation, as well as industrial and medical applications.
Description
- Conceptual and detailed mechanical packaging design to include thermal/shock/vibration analyses for new product developments
- Support failure analyses and recommend/implement product improvements for existing designs
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the mechanical engineering team
- Provide mechanical engineering content in support of new business proposals (renderings, simulation models, work estimates)
- Contribute to new and refine existing engineering processes and procedures
- Collaborate with multiple engineering design disciplines to satisfy overall system objectives
- Ability to lead development projects of various sizes is preferred
Profile
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required; M.S. in Mechanical Engineering preferred
- A minimum of 10 years of design experience in electro-mechanical packaging
- Electronics packaging design & analysis experience in SolidWorks 3D CAD & PDM environment or equivalent
- Experience with printed circuit board/circuit card assemblies
- Experience designing for defense/aerospace industry standards DO-160/MIL-STD-810/MIL-STD-461/MIL-STD-704
- Experience successfully transitioning product designs to manufacturing with strong collaboration throughout the development process
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Available to travel to customer sites in support of design review meetings (up to 10%)
