Process Design Engineer - Industrial Manufacturing - Oxford, MA

The Process Design Engineer will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure the highest quality standards. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to support the continuous improvement of production workflows and to drive process innovation.

Description

The Process Design Engineer will report directly into the Engineering Manager and be responsible for:

  • Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for efficiency, quality, and scalability.
  • Analyze process flows, production methods, and layouts to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Conduct time studies and process simulations to evaluate and optimize workflows.
  • Automate existing processes with robotics or dedicated automation.
  • Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality teams to implement new processes or improve existing ones.
  • Develop and document process specifications, work instructions, and control plans.
  • Support the Heat Treat Department with metallurgy, process knowledge, and failure analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.

Profile

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in process design or manufacturing engineering, preferably in an industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and process simulation tools.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of electrical circuits, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLC logic, and CNC controls.
