Director of Safety - Commercial/Multifamily Construction - MA

Description
The Construction Safety Manager will be responsible for:

Develop and Implement Safety Policies:
- Create and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Regularly review and update safety protocols to keep them current with evolving regulations and best practices.

Conduct Safety Inspections and Audits:
- Perform routine safety inspections on construction sites to identify hazards and ensure safe work practices are followed.
- Conduct regular safety audits to evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and identify areas for improvement.

Training and Education:
- Organize and conduct safety training sessions for employees, subcontractors, and management to ensure everyone understands and follows safety protocols.
- Ensure workers are trained in the correct use of equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency procedures.

Incident Investigation and Reporting:
- Investigate accidents, injuries, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents and accidents, and communicate findings to senior management and relevant stakeholders.

Ensure Compliance with Regulations:
- Stay up to date with federal, state, and local safety regulations (such as OSHA, EPA, etc.) and ensure construction activities comply with these laws.
- Ensure necessary permits and documentation are in place for safety compliance and work with regulatory agencies when necessary.

Risk Assessment and Hazard Mitigation:
- Conduct risk assessments on construction sites to identify potential hazards and implement preventive measures to mitigate risks.
- Work with project managers and engineers to address specific safety concerns related to the project
Profile
The ideal Construction Safety Manager will have:
- 5-10+ years years of Safety experience with a General Contractor or Developer
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or related preferred (or relevant experience)
- Commercial project experience required (with a GC)
- Experience managing projects $5M+
- Ability to communicate with subcontractors and other project team members
- Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment
- Ability to multitask
- Strong communication and interpersonal skill
- Ability to educate and enforce OSHA regulations and safety protocols
Job Offer
