Assistant Project Manager - $20M+ Construction Projects - DC

This Assistant Project Manager role supports the delivery of large‑scale, ground‑up construction projects from preconstruction through close‑out. You'll partner closely with Project Managers and site teams to drive schedules, budgets, and quality on complex builds.

Description

The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in managing ground‑up construction projects valued at $20M+
  • Supporting project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost controls
  • Coordinating with subcontractors, consultants, and internal teams
  • Tracking RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
  • Monitoring site progress to ensure quality, safety, and schedule adherence
  • Supporting close‑out activities including punch lists and turnover
  • Utilising construction software platforms to maintain accurate reporting

Profile

A successful Assistant Project Manager should have:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as an Assistant Project Manager
  • Experience supporting at least one ground‑up building project
  • Background in multifamily, healthcare, education, or institutional builds
  • Experience on projects valued at $20M or more
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of Procore and PlanGrid
