Senior Project Manager - General Contractor - Milwaukee
My client is looking for a seasoned project management professional to come in and help lead their projects. If you are looking for an opportunity to help contribute to a growing firm's growth this is the opportunity for you.
Client Details
My client is a well-respected general contractor in greater Milwaukee that specializes in smaller commercial projects. They mainly (75% of projects) work with repeat clients, who they have created deep relationships over the past 80 years. They have built this reputation by consistently acting with honesty whenever possible and ensuring that clients have peace of mind about the buildings they will receive.
Description
Oversee Projects (approx. 5 at a time) | 80%
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining clear and open communication channels.
- Lead and motivate a multidisciplinary project team, fostering collaboration and results-driven work.
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring financial goals are met and resources are allocated efficiently.
- Anticipate and mitigate potential project risks, developing contingency plans for unforeseen challenges.
- Implement and enforce quality control processes to uphold industry standards and meet client expectations.
- Monitor project schedules, identify critical paths, and take proactive measures to meet deadlines.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers, negotiating contracts aligned with project goals.
- Stay informed about local building codes and zoning regulations to ensure project compliance.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
- Address issues and conflicts promptly, seeking effective resolutions to keep projects on track.
- Conduct post-construction evaluations, identify lessons learned, and implement improvements.

- Spent time with APMs in the office and aid in their development
Profile
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field. A master's degree may be preferred but is not always required.
- Significant experience in project management in the construction industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering multiple commercial projects.
- Proficient in project management software and tools.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and processes.
- Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional project teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and make decisions in a timely manner.
- Proficient in developing and managing project budgets.
- Understanding of financial aspects, including cost estimating and cost control.
- Ability to negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and unexpected challenges.
- Experience in client communication and expectation management.
- Experience in managing and mentoring junior project management staff.
