Controls Engineer - Plastics Manufacturing - Oxford, MA
In this Controls Engineer role you will be responsible for the testing, installation, and service of all robots and automation equipment. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to implement advanced automation solutions and troubleshoot complex control issues.

Description
The Controls Engineer will report directly into the Engineering Manager and be responsible for:
- Design, program, and integrate automation and control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and other industrial control equipment.
- Analyze and improve manufacturing processes through automation, focusing on increasing efficiency, reducing downtime, and ensuring product quality.
- Diagnose and resolve control system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and reliable operation of all automated systems.
- Support the installation and commissioning of new automated equipment and systems, including coordinating with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data from automated systems to monitor process performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Work closely with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operation and continuous improvement of automation systems.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for control systems, and provide training to operators and maintenance personnel on new systems and processes.

Profile
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 3+ years of experience in automation engineering within a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.) and HMI/SCADA system design
- Strong understanding of process control, instrumentation, and electrical systems
- Knowledge of robotics, vision systems, and motion control is a plus
- Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
