A well-established GC in DC is seeking an Assistant Superintendent with 3-5 years of experience who can independently manage smaller interior projects around $500K. Description
The Assistant Superintendent - Design Build - DC Metro will be responsible for:
- Assisting the Superintendent with day-to-day site operations
- Coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and field labor
- Ensuring adherence to project schedules and deadlines
- Monitoring job site progress and maintaining quality standards
- Enforcing safety protocols and complying with OSHA regulations
- Supporting the development and updating of project schedules and look-aheads
- Tracking labor, materials, and daily site activity
- Collaborating with project management on drawings, RFIs, and submittals
- Attending and contributing to on-site coordination meetings
- Managing site logistics, material deliveries, and storage planning
- Overseeing construction work to ensure code and spec compliance
- Documenting site activity, incidents, and inspections
- Assisting with punch list creation, tracking, and project closeout
Profile
The Assistant Superintendent - Design Build - DC Metro will have:
- 3-5 years of experience in commercial construction, ideally with a general contractor
- A proven ability to support or independently manage interior or ground-up projects
- Strong knowledge of construction documents, drawings, and specifications
- Familiarity with OSHA standards and a commitment to job site safety
- Experience assisting with scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and field oversight
- A proactive mindset with a drive to identify and solve problems early
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment
- A strong sense of ownership, accountability, and pride in delivering high-quality work
- A willingness to make decisions, learn from mistakes, and grow professionally
