Quality Engineer- Precision Metal- Danvers, Ma
The Quality Engineer ensures that engineering drawings and manufacturing processes align with customer requirements, initiating FAI and SPS standards for new projects. They manage the calibration and internal audit programs, support third-party and special process audits, and provide backup to the Quality Manager and Lead Inspector.

Description
- Review design plans, process procedures, test procedures, and quality manuals to understand scope, requirements, and problem functions.
- Ensure products meet organizational and customer quality and integrity standards.
- Support product development and operations teams with expertise and analysis during inspections.
- Investigate production non-conformance issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Analyze quality data to detect trends, aiming to reduce defects and prevent recurrence.
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with federal, state, local, and industry standards.
- Verify proper flow-down of customer requirements in purchase orders (POs).
- Initiate first articles, VSE, and customer-specific requirements for all new projects.
- Oversee the calibration system for measuring equipment, gauges, and fixtures.
- Assist the Quality Manager with third-party, special process, and customer quality system audits.
- Provide backup support for the Lead Inspector and Quality Manager.
- Coordinate the internal auditing program.
- Complete characteristic accountability, identify unaccounted characteristics, and measure parts for conformance.
- Undergo training for DSQR and certification as a Visual Inspector.
Profile
- Proficient understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Skilled in reading and interpreting machining/fabrication drawings, work instructions, and engineering specifications
- Background in metal fabrication, particularly with exotic metals, stainless steel, and mild steel
- Competence in using standard quality control measuring tools like verniers, micrometers, and height gauges
- Methodical, efficient, dependable, and detail-oriented work approach
- CMM operation skills are advantageous
- Familiarity with the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) process, including FPI and X-ray techniques
- Experience creating and organizing inspection reports/bubble drawings for new parts and revisions
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards
- Experience with Laser Lab Testing submittal and review
- Experience in programming and operating the Romer Arm CMM is a plus
