R&D Engineer - Durham, NH

The R&D Engineer will join a team of 6 who are focused on the mechanical design of mainly brand new products. This team works on products, from conception through design, in various highly regulated industries.

My client has been around for over 35 years, servicing several different industries. They have excellent company culture and retention of employees. This client has grown 10-15% over the past couple of years and are projected to continue to grow!

Description

The responsibilities of the R&D Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with the team and customers to design and develop new products and processes, overseeing projects from concept to manufacturing release.
  • Manage smaller development projects independently, addressing technical aspects for successful program commercialization.
  • Implement design and process changes to enhance performance, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of existing products.
  • Design and validate tools, gauges, and equipment for new initiatives.
  • Lead experiments to address design queries and troubleshoot automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Create manufacturing documentation and implement LEAN and Six Sigma practices.
  • Inspect tooling and customer parts for accuracy, developing CMM programs based on requirements.

Profile

The successful R&D Engineer will possess these qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in an Engineering field, preferably Mechanical Engineering
  • 2-4 years of experience as an engineer
  • Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software
  • Working knowledge of drawing standards, experience with GD&T
  • Preferred familiarity with CMM programming software and interface
  • Desirable experience with CNC machining and/or manual machining, though not mandatory
  • Familiarity with plastic part fabrication techniques, emphasizing common forming and sealing methods; expertise in thermoforming is particularly valuable
  • Knowledge of machine design, basic electrical design, and a solid understanding of common manufacturing practices
  • Preferably holds Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc., with an aptitude for learning new software
