Electronics - Process Engineer - Salem, MA

The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for overseeing product and process engineering in a state-of-the-art electronics manufacturing facility, leading DFM and new product introduction for PCBAs and electronic system assemblies, developing PFMEA and quality plans, defining manufacturing processes and assembly cells to meet cost, quality, and delivery goals, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Description

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the introduction of new customer programs, performing DFM analysis, recommending design improvements, and developing control plans to ensure product quality. Create manufacturing processes and work instructions, and train operations teams.
  • Collaborate with vendors to develop tooling strategies, evaluating A/R ratios, layouts, and ergonomics.
  • Participate in daily meetings to address manufacturing challenges, make process adjustments, and update documentation.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and implement process improvements.
  • Communicate engineering and design challenges to customer contacts and the Program Management Team.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities by analyzing yield data, modifying processes, and participating in Kaizen events and root cause corrective actions.
  • Design work cells to support takt time, apply Lean principles, and perform capacity analysis to meet production goals.
  • Perform mechanical tasks using hand tools and small power tools.
  • Evaluate new processing techniques and equipment, ensuring product data meets specifications.

Profile

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a Manufacturing-related field.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Expertise in PCBA assembly technologies, including SMT automation, wave soldering, and mechanical assembly.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in lean manufacturing methods and continuous improvement processes.
  • Experienced in total quality management practices.
  • Skilled in working with customers on new product introductions and resolving technical issues.
  • Familiar with ISO-compliant quality systems and procedures.
  • A self-motivated, proactive team player in a dynamic work environment.
