Corporate Quality Manager | Shop Floor Experience Needed

The Shop Floor-focused Corporate Quality Manager will be responsible for being hands on and leading problem solving initatives such as root cause investigations and the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.

Our client is a long-established metal products manufacturer specializing in the defense and military industries. With more than a century of experience, they have supported groundbreaking space-age initiatives as well as practical, everyday metal applications. Today, the company is experiencing substantial growth and is reinvesting in its facilities and workforce to strengthen its leadership with key customers. The Corporate Quality Manager will be a strategic partner to the executive team while providing hands-on leadership across operations.

Description

  • Champion the consistent application of quality tools, methodologies, and processes across all organizational functions. Serve as the Management Representative for the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with relevant standards and maintaining coordination with registrars and regulatory authorities.
  • Lead and coordinate teams responsible for inspection, QMS administration, certification and regulatory compliance, shop floor quality, and adherence to customer contracts. Oversee product quality and inspection processes for incoming materials, in-process operations, and finished goods to meet all customer and industry requirements.
  • Manage supplier quality and auditing programs to ensure strong performance and compliance. Oversee internal audit activities for AS, ISO, and Nuclear standards, including planning, execution, corrective action management, and auditor training and development.
  • Collaborate closely with production, sales, and engineering to align quality initiatives with customer expectations. Represent the company in discussions with customers and third-party auditors regarding specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and quality performance.
  • Develop, analyze, and maintain quality performance metrics aligned with business and customer objectives. Lead structured problem-solving and root cause analysis to drive corrective actions and foster a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Identify and support companywide quality training needs. Mentor internal auditors and team members to strengthen quality competencies and ensure consistent application of standards and best practices.
  • Implement, maintain, and continuously improve internal quality systems to align with strategic business goals. Oversee critical processes such as certification and compliance reviews, corrective action management, layered process audits, and customer communication protocols.
  • Support customer, second-party, and third-party audits, ensuring thorough preparation, effective documentation, and successful outcomes.
  • Promote and actively support company safety initiatives, reinforcing safe work practices and fostering a culture focused on quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Leverage metrics and performance data to identify and eliminate waste, improving process efficiency, accuracy, and overall operational effectiveness. Participate in Lean and 6S initiatives to enhance workflow and strengthen quality performance.
  • Assist the Director of Quality with staffing and resource planning, and perform other duties as assigned. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Profile

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a quality management capacity
  • Understanding of ISO 9001
  • AS9100 experience is preferred
  • Experience leading root cause and corrective action investigations
  • Experience with metrology and machining
  • Experience within a job shop environment
