Plastics - Lead Manufacturing Engineer - Bellingham, MA
The Manufacturing Engineer Lead is accountable for guiding the design, optimization, and ongoing enhancement of manufacturing processes. This role is dedicated to boosting production efficiency, ensuring high product quality, and reducing costs, all while maintaining adherence to safety and environmental regulations.

Description
Responsibilities:
- Process Design and Enhancement: Develop and implement new manufacturing processes, tools, and equipment while continuously refining existing workflows to improve production efficiency and reduce waste.
- Problem Resolution and Troubleshooting: Address production challenges such as equipment failures, quality concerns, and delays. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Project Leadership: Lead or support the planning and execution of manufacturing projects, including new product introductions, equipment upgrades, and facility improvements.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Gather, analyze, and report production data to monitor efficiency, track trends, and propose areas for improvement, using tools like Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing to optimize workflows.
- Equipment and Facility Maintenance: Ensure all manufacturing equipment is functioning properly by working closely with maintenance and operations teams to maximize uptime and minimize disruptions.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work with R&D, quality control, and production teams to ensure seamless integration of new products into manufacturing processes and provide technical support for design modifications.
- Documentation Management: Maintain accurate records of processes, equipment specifications, and improvements while ensuring documentation meets regulatory and company standards.
- Regulatory Compliance and Safety: Ensure that manufacturing processes comply with all relevant safety, health, environmental, and quality regulations.
Profile
Ideal Candidate:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software, PDM, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including laser and TIG welding, CNC machining, and knowledge/experience with electrical components, systems, and soldering.
- Electromechanical assembly design/manufacturing experience, including metrology methods and GD&T.
- Automation experience is a plus.
- Proven track record of fixture and production cell design for novel processing techniques.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to analyze data and make decisions based on insights.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to embrace continuous learning and stay abreast of technological advancements in manufacturing, such as automation and robotics.
- Preferred:
- Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and regulatory standards such as ISO 9001 & 17025.
- Certification in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
