Process Engineer | Norfolk County, MA
The Process Engineer coordinates activities of the Operations group to ensure the most efficient, effective, and safe
manufacture of quality products.
Client Details
Producer of specialty chemicals and glycerin products catering to food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, textile and plastic industries.
Description
- Achieve proficiency with key manufacturing unit operations via training with operators and engineers.
- Manage initiatives under the guidance of the Operations Manager.
- Troubleshoot plant process issues working directly with technicians/operators.
- Develops process and procedure documentation and operator training materials.
- Help develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure communication and deployment of management of change procedures.
- Support new product and process commercialization.
- Measure product quality, process capability, and yield utilizing statistical process control techniques.
- Improve process efficiencies including first pass quality, productivity, and safety.
- Provide plant support by coordinating and following new products with R&D from inception through product commercialization and full production hand off to operations.
- Investigate downtime causes and complete appropriate recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
- Maintain and foster collaborative efforts between R&D, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Safety, and
- Quality teams to identify, establish, and share best practices.
- Work closely with Engineering to ensure appropriate safety, health and environmental factors are considered and adhered to throughout all aspects of the product development to commercialization process.
- Perform other duties as requested or required.
Profile
- Four-year college degree in Engineering or related discipline (Chemical Engineering preferred)
- 3+ years' experience preferred in manufacturing or chemical processing related industry
- Ability to be reached by phone during off shift hours in case of scheduling or emergency need.
- Must understand heat transfer, fluid flow, pumping, piping, and instrumentation.
- Demonstrated exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated excellent computer skills.
Preferred:
- Having previous experience with continuous chemical processing; within a high hazard environment is preferred.
- Hands on with the ability to build rapport with operating, analytical, and maintenance technicians is extremely
- important.
- Ability to handle multiple projects at one time.
- GMP knowledge preferred
- Programing experience preferred
