Chief Estimator - Healthcare + Public Works - Walnut Creek
My client is seeking a Chief Estimator to lead preconstruction efforts across healthcare, education, municipal, and commercial projects. This is a high-impact leadership role with strong growth potential, overseeing estimating strategy during an exciting expansion into the Sacramento market.

My client is a a fast-growing General Contractor based in the East Bay, specializing in ground-up and tenant improvement projects across the healthcare, education, municipal, and commercial sectors. With deep roots in the Bay Area and a recent expansion into Sacramento, the team is building a name as a top-tier partner for complex, high-stakes construction.
Their portfolio includes standout projects with Kaiser Permanente, UCSF, and multiple Bay Area school districts, including Ruby Bridges Elementary and Laurel Elementary. With 25-30% year-over-year growth, the company is investing heavily in the next phase of strategic expansion, including the potential opening of a Sacramento office in 2025.
They've recently brought in high-caliber talent from top firms like Dome and XL Construction, and are now seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to lead their estimating team and drive the success of their preconstruction efforts.
Description
Lead and manage all estimating activities across a variety of project types, including healthcare facilities, K-12 schools, higher education, municipal, and commercial interiors
Develop conceptual and detailed estimates throughout preconstruction phases
Oversee bid strategy, subcontractor coverage, and pricing accuracy
Mentor and develop a growing team of estimators
Collaborate with project management, business development, and leadership teams to align cost strategies with client goals and company targets
Evaluate cost risks and provide value engineering solutions
Ensure historical cost data and estimating tools are accurate and up to date
Participate in interviews and presentations for negotiated work
Profile
- 10+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction, with strong knowledge of Bay Area subcontractor markets and pricing

Job Offer
- Competitve base salary ($170k-$220k)
