Development Manager (Commercial Real Estate Firm)
Our Commercial Real Estate client is actively looking for a Development Manager to join their team, and report to the VP of Development and Construction for the firm.
- Primary function of this role is to manage the design, feasibility, costs, and approvals of a potential projects with clients/tenets, townships, engineers, land use attorneys, and the board.
- Majority of developer's portfolio is mixed use buildings with an ever growing portfolio in the industrial sector.
Client Details
Our client is commercial real estate firm that has worked as a Developer/GC/CM for 70+ years. They actively acquire, develop land, property to hold, but also manages third-party GC/CM work for external Developers and Private clients, as well. This year, they will work on $80-100M in new construction. Maintaining an active portfolio of 100+ properties and over 20 million square feet of leased space to retail, office and industrial clients.
Description
- Manage day-to-day activities of project due diligence, feasibility budgets and schedules, planning and entitlement, and budgeting activities. Support programs established by Area management team.
- Assign and manage due diligence projects for designated business unit or geographic area. Assess project risks and participate in establishing feasibility budgets and schedules for consulting and engineering development activities.
- Coordinate project management activities with Division VP and the Operations Team to facilitate timely project start-up.
- Review Purchase Agreements for necessary entitlement deal points and monitor compliance with terms. Aid in coordination of joint development agreements or joint venture management responsibilities.
- Work with Operations Team and outside consultants (legal, civil engineering, architecture and planning) to develop site plans and subdivision plans.
- Manage all land development applications until Permits and Approvals are issued. Submit and process applications to every governmental agency having jurisdiction of the Project including municipal, county, state and federal levels. Attendance at government meetings is required.
Profile
The Development Manager will have the following:
- 3-5+ years' experience working for a Developer/GC and/or at a commercial real estate firm
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering related field strongly preferred
- OSHA certification preferred
- Proficient in project management software
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
