Client Details
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to join our construction team in Brooklyn, NY. The Estimator will be responsible for accurately assessing the costs of construction projects, preparing detailed estimates, and contributing to the planning and budgeting processes. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of construction processes, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Description
- Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs. Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other project documents to determine the scope of work and project requirements.
- Budget Development: Develop comprehensive project budgets based on estimates, ensuring alignment with client expectations and project specifications. Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
- Bid Preparation: Coordinate and prepare bids for potential projects, working with subcontractors, suppliers, and other team members to gather quotes and pricing information. Submit bids in a timely and professional manner.
- Risk Analysis: Evaluate potential project risks and uncertainties, identifying factors that could impact the cost or timeline of the project. Propose solutions and adjustments to mitigate these risks.
- Material & Labor Sourcing: Research and obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors for materials, equipment, and labor. Negotiate pricing and terms to ensure cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality standards.
- Project Documentation: Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and correspondence. Ensure that all necessary documentation is provided for project proposals and contract agreements.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that estimates are in line with project goals and requirements. Provide input and support during the planning and design phases.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, construction techniques, and market conditions. Utilize this knowledge to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency.
Profile
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably within the commercial, residential, or industrial sectors.
- Certifications: Estimating certifications (e.g., AACE, ASPE) are a plus but not required.

Skills:
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and methods.
- Proficient in construction estimating software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, Sage, or similar).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
