Value Stream Manager | Tempering
A leading manufacturer of specialty glass products is seeking an experienced Value Stream Manager to oversee 24/7 operations in a high-volume production environment. The role is focused on managing tempering and grinding lines, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and driving safety, quality, and operational performance in alignment with corporate objectives.

Description
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic and hands-on leadership to a large production team (70+ personnel) across multiple shifts.
Lead plant operations in a high-temperature, safety-critical environment with a focus on glass strengthening processes (tempering).
Drive compliance with environmental, safety, and quality standards, including OSHA and ISO certifications.
Monitor and manage departmental budgets (~$30M) and capital projects.
Oversee performance metrics related to output, uptime, labor utilization, and customer satisfaction.
Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement strategies to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
Support enterprise-wide transformation efforts through digitalization, standardization, and cross-functional collaboration.
Ensure effective training, coaching, and development of frontline supervisors, engineers, and technicians.
Serve as a key contributor in long-range planning, process engineering, and asset management (>$80M in equipment value).
Collaborate with customer service, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure operational alignment and product integrity.
Profile
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline required.
Minimum 6-10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in glass, metals, or a similar high-heat process industry.
Strong background in plant leadership, safety programs, and production oversight.
Proven experience managing large teams in 24/7 environments.
Knowledge of tempering, grinding, or thermal treatment processes is highly desirable.
Proficiency in Lean tools, Six Sigma, and enterprise excellence methodologies.
Strong communication, decision-making, and change leadership skills.
