We are partnered up with a Manufacturing client of ours in their search to add a Quality Engineer to the team due to growth. This position will work at a 100+ employee plant and will report into the Quality Manager on a team of 4 quality professionals. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience, is a quick learner, is able to communicate and relate to employees effectively, ideally is bilingual in Spanish (not required), and has manufacturing experience. Description
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for the following:
- Develop and implement quality control procedures for mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical assemblies
- Perform root cause analysis and lead corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes for internal and external quality issues
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications to assess conformance
- Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections using standard tools and testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, hi-pot testers, calipers, micrometers)
- Maintain and improve ISO 9001 or ISO 14001 quality systems documentation
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and supply chain to support design reviews, new product introductions (NPI), and manufacturing process validation
- Participate in and lead failure analysis on returned or non-conforming electrical/mechanical components
- Monitor quality metrics and perform statistical analysis to identify trends and drive improvements
- Support internal and external audits (ISO, customer, supplier) and regulatory compliance initiatives
- Manage nonconformance reports (NCRs), material review board (MRB) processes, and supplier corrective actions
- Evaluate and improve supplier quality performance through audits and incoming inspections
Profile
The ideal Quality Engineer will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or related technical field)
- 2+ years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably power systems, electronics, or heavy equipment)
- Ability to effectively communicate and relate to employees on the manufacturing floor and explain the why behind all things Quality.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required
- Proficient in interpreting electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and quality system maintenance
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills (e.g., 5 Why, Fishbone, 8D)
- Hands-on experience with inspection tools and electrical testing equipment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Minitab)
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green Belt
- Knowledge of standards such as UL, IEC, or IEEE related to power systems
- Familiarity with FMEA, PPAP, Control Plans, and SPC
- Familiarity with ERP and QMS platforms (e.g., SAP, Plex, Arena, MasterControl)
