The Director of Preconstruction role focuses on leading and supporting the estimating team for commercial interior, renovation, and select ground‑up projects across the DMV. The position combines hands‑on estimating with mentoring responsibilities to help a growing construction firm manage an expanding project pipeline.

This mid size general contractor specializes in commercial interiors, renovations, and select ground‑up projects ranging from $2M interior buildouts to $15-20M new construction assignments. The team partners with well‑known commercial owners and real estate groups across the region.

Description

* Lead the preconstruction and estimating department for the Largo office
* Manage, mentor, and develop a senior estimator and junior estimator
* Oversee conceptual, schematic, and detailed estimates for commercial interior and renovation projects
* Support estimating efforts for select ground‑up and base‑building projects
* Collaborate with project executives, operations, and ownership teams during early project planning
* Participate in client meetings, site walks, and proposal presentations
* Ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality across all estimating deliverables
* Contribute to strategic growth in emerging sectors such as healthcare, data centers, and higher education

Profile

* 10+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction
* Strong background in commercial interiors is required
* Base‑building experience is highly preferred
* Experience mentoring or managing other estimators
* Familiarity with healthcare, data center, or higher‑education projects is a plus
* Proficiency in:
* Bluebeam
* On‑Screen Takeoff
* Microsoft Project
* Experience with Builder software is a bonus
