Director, Special Projects | Minneapolis
The Director is responsible for the overall performance within a specific region of the division. This person is responsible for oversight of business development/sales, estimating, project management, field operations, and overall growth within their respective region.
Client Details
Our client was founded in 1950 and is headquartered in Minnesota with another office in Wisconsin. They're a nationwide precast manufacturer and contractor leading the industry in the Midwest.
Division Specific:
- About five years ago they launched a Sealant & Restoration
- The division grew naturally by providing the sealant work for the precast concrete they are already installing
- The division has grown and now takes on contracts for division seven work as a subcontractor and also takes on contracts as the prime contractor for restoration work

Description
Key Responsibilities:
- People Management: oversight of all project managers, field staff, and estimators
- Client and Vendor Relations: acting as the face of the division to key external stakeholders
- Financial Oversight: high-level oversight of the financial success of the division
Job Description:
- Oversee and be accountable for the overall operations of the region.
- Ensure clear communication among team members, stakeholders, and clients.
- Manage regional financials with full P/L responsibility.
- Collaborate with the Vice President to set short-term and long-term goals aligned with the group President's vision.
- Develop and implement strategic budgets to meet revenue and profit targets.
- Prepare and forecast capital expenditure budgets for up to 3 years to support P/L goals.
- Oversee management of field vehicles, project manager vehicles, company drivers, and vehicle procurement.
- Establish and implement policies, procedures, production goals, and KPIs to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Develop metrics to track regional success in project management, sales, and estimating.
- Provide professional growth opportunities for direct reports through training and development.
- Forecast future HR needs in collaboration with the HR Manager and integrate them into strategic plans and budgets.
- Create processes for client relations, identify key clients, and support regional growth goals.
- Identify and evaluate emerging markets complementary to sealants, restoration, and precast services.
- Support project teams in solving high-risk project challenges.
- Manage and oversee contracts in the region.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks.
- Complete special projects and other assigned duties as needed.
Profile
My client is seeking a leader experienced in project management to oversee the division's growth. This person will oversee all the members of this division and have responsibility for its financial success. The right candidate will be committed to fostering a family atmosphere through upholding the values of integrity, honesty and mutual respect.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction project management
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and techniques.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage at a high-level multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to build strong relationships with clients and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in mentoring and developing younger professionals.
