Quality Manager - Industrial Manufacturing - Beacon, NY

The Quality Manager will oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive quality system for optical components, ensuring compliance with ISO and industry standards while leading the QC team. They will manage quality audits, coordinate cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues, and drive continuous improvements in product performance and customer satisfaction.

My client is an established player in the industrial machinery manufacturing sector, specializing in optics components. Originally founded in the early 1980s, the company was acquired by a larger optical manufacturer and is currently undergoing a rebranding and standardization process across its operations. The facility, located in the Beacon, NY region, focuses on producing high-precision optical components for specialized applications in the military and security industries, including optics for military binoculars and security systems used in airports.

With a strong emphasis on quality, the company maintains ISO 9001 certification and operates with a team of skilled professionals. The workforce is focused on manufacturing high-performance optical products, which are critical in applications that require exacting standards. As part of a growing network of optical manufacturing companies across the Northeastern U.S., my client is positioning itself to further expand its market share and enhance its product offerings within the optics sector.

Description

The Quality Manager, Industrial Manufacturing, will:

  • Ensure material and product quality at receipt and prior to shipment
  • Manage and maintain a comprehensive quality system
  • Supervise the Quality Control department, ensuring adherence to company policies
  • Investigate and resolve customer quality issues
  • Maintain and update Quality Control status and metrics
  • Oversee and manage ISO9001 program, including annual audits and compliance
  • Lead internal quality audits and drive continuous improvements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, sales, etc.) to transfer new products/processes to production
  • Manage Quality Department budget and performance metrics
  • Promote a culture of quality across all departments
  • Drive quality initiatives and improvements throughout the organization
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Be onsite on our Beacon, NY facility

Profile

  • 5+ years of management experience in manufacturing or coating of optical components
  • 5+ years of experience as a Quality Manager in optical component manufacturing or assembly
  • Proficiency in using basic SPC tools to collect data and evaluate product performance
  • Experience performing quality audits
  • Strong ability to develop team synergy and coordinate efforts
  • Basic understanding of the physical nature of optical materials and optics
  • Knowledge of equipment used to measure mechanical and optical properties of optical elements
  • Familiarity with ISO, military, and industrial standards for optical components
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively
  • Ability to lead and drive continuous improvements in quality management
  • Local to Beacon, NY
