Description
The Assistant Superintendent - $200M Project - Charlottesville, VA will be responsible for:
- Supporting the Superintendent in day‑to‑day site operations and ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards
- Coordinating subcontractors, material deliveries, and site logistics to maintain efficient workflow
- Conducting daily site walks to monitor progress, identify issues, and verify compliance with project plans and specifications
- Assisting with enforcement of safety protocols, conducting toolbox talks, and ensuring OSHA requirements are met
- Tracking on‑site labor, equipment, and materials to support accurate reporting and schedule updates
- Reviewing drawings, RFIs, and submittals to help resolve field conflicts and maintain alignment with the project schedule
- Supporting the Superintendent in preparing daily logs, progress reports, and documentation
- Communicating proactively with project management, subcontractors, and inspectors to maintain smooth operations and resolve onsite challenges
- Helping manage quality control by verifying installation methods, inspecting completed work, and documenting deficiencies
- Assisting with coordination for inspections, punch lists, and turnover activities as the project transitions toward completion
Profile
The Assistant Superintendent - $200M Project - Charlottesville, VA will have:
- 3-7+ years of experience supporting ground‑up commercial, multifamily, or large‑scale projects in a field supervision role
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, scheduling, site logistics, and safety best practices
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and managing day‑to‑day field activities on active jobsites
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals
- Proven track record of maintaining high safety and quality standards in fast‑paced construction environments
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with field teams, project management, and external partners
- Proficiency with construction management software for daily logs, documentation, and reporting
- A proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset with the ability to anticipate issues and support timely field decisions
- OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain)
