Operations Project Leader

Michael Page Orchard Park, NY (Onsite) Full-Time
$110,000 - $135,000/Year

The Operations Project Leader is responsible for leading complex step change projects aligned with strategic plans. This role will provide an advanced level of leadership and act as a subject matter expert to all stakeholders associated with the project. The leader will also ensure the project is planned and executed for success and that others are educated on the benefits of the project and how they can contribute to its success.

Our Client is an award winning company known for its design, development, and manufacture of high quality components, systems and sub-systems for use wherever precise control, reliability and cost containment are primary requirements.

Their products include servocontrol valves, torque motors, actuators, check valves, pressure regulators, metallic seals and many other products which are used in a wide range of applications.

These applications range from outer space, military, and commercial aircraft, helicopters, ground vehicles, test equipment, and precision controls of all types.

Description

  • Complies with the Company Values, Company's Code of Conduct and ethics and Safety requirements.
  • Utilizes and abides by all Business Management and Quality System requirements.
  • Delivers large complex projects in support of planned business strategies and key performance indicator (KPI) improvements.
  • Develops and implements new standards listening to input from key stakeholders and end users.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and provides constant feedback and input into process improvement.
  • Drives structured project plans and the change management process.
  • Manages internal and external customer expectations of projects.
  • Efficiently utilizes resources to support strategic business initiatives through timely execution of project plans and time management skills.
  • Facilitates scheduled meetings and actively participates by providing meaningful guidance to project team members.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to identify road blocks and actions through problem solving facilitation and provide solutions to remove or mitigate issues.
  • Utilizes process mapping, value stream mapping, root cause analysis and other lean and problem-solving tools as well as facilitates and coaches' others on the use of these tools.
  • Actively learns to become a subject matter expect related to the process being improved and project being managed.

How you will be measured:

  • Create conditions that allow and encourage safe work practices; Uphold safety as number one priority;
  • Results in key performance indicators linked to strategic projects (i.e.; Safety, Quality, Planning. Schedule Adherence, Delivery, Cost, and/or Inventory Metrics)
  • Labor Efficiencies, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Unscheduled downtime events
  • Adherence to project timelines and time management activities
  • Evidence of a drive for continued learning efforts to develop one self and those that report to you as well as apply knowledge learned to improve metrics above

Profile

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a technical or business discipline, Engineering preferred. Masters degree a plus.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of progressive experience in project leadership.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (Aerospace or equivalent) demonstrating leadership competencies.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to listen and understand end users' needs.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Must have Lean and Six Sigma application experience; certification a plus.
  • Must have an advanced level of business acumen.

Specialized Qualifications:

  • Proven capabilities in the area of development and improvement of supply planning processes and standard work for machining and assembly manufacturing environments, including demand segmentation, master scheduling, shop floor planning, Kanban, supply chain, etc.
  • Extensive experience working within and improving the capabilities of an ERP and/or MRP system is required.
  • Certified Production and Planning Engineer (CPPE) or ASCM certification preferred.
