VP, Cloud Security

A client is looking to hire a Cloud Security SME to head up a new pillar in their IT Security department. This person will contribute to the development and alignment of the IT Strategy with overall organizational goals, provide expert security guidance for IT projects and evaluate emerging security tools and services to ensure industry best practices.

Description

• Cloud Security Leadership & Operations: Serve as the Cloud Security SME, overseeing IDPS (e.g., Suricata/Snort), PCAP analysis, cloud-native detection/response workflows, and incident investigations in collaboration with SOC and incident response teams.

• Monitoring, Detection & Threat Response: Develop and maintain detection rules, triage alerts from SIEM and cloud tools, conduct threat hunting, and review cloud logs to ensure proactive security posture in hybrid/cloud environments.

• Architecture & Collaboration: Work closely with infrastructure and cloud operations teams to ensure secure configurations, participate in security reviews, and support cloud incident response automation using tools like Lambda and Step Functions.

• Compliance & Documentation: Ensure alignment with regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, SOC, NIST, ISO), maintain thorough documentation for audits, and support compliance through evidence gathering and control validation.

• Process Improvement & Risk Mitigation: Enhance incident response SOPs, perform root cause analysis, manage IT security risks for major projects, and maintain security controls (e.g., SIEM, DLP, EDR), while addressing audit findings and managing vendor relationships.
