Global Service Technician-Med Device- Burlington, MA
The Optical Field Service and Operations Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining advanced optical and fiber-optic systems at customer sites, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. The role combines hands-on technical work with strong customer service skills, requiring travel to various locations and adherence to industry standards and safety protocols.

Description
- Installation and Setup: Install, configure, and test fiber-optic networks and equipment, including optical transmission systems, wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) devices, amplifiers, and optical switches.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on optical laser systems to ensure optimal performance, quickly identifying issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Field Service: Travel to customer sites to install, inspect, repair, and upgrade optical networking equipment, collaborating closely with clients to resolve issues and minimize downtime.
- System Upgrades: Conduct hardware and software upgrades for optical networking systems, ensuring compatibility and optimizing performance when integrating new equipment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, issue reports, service logs, and detailed documentation of equipment configurations and repair histories.
- Customer Support: Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client concerns, explaining system functionalities, and ensuring client satisfaction post-installation, including support and training as needed.
- Compliance and Safety: Adhere to industry standards and safety protocols during installations and repairs, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Technical Expertise: Stay updated on the latest developments in optical networking technologies and best practices, participating in continuous training and skill enhancement programs.
Profile
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; relevant certifications in fiber optics (e.g., CFOT, FOA) are a plus.
- Experience: 2-5 years of experience in optical network installations, troubleshooting, and field service operations; familiarity with WDM systems, optical amplifiers, and fiber-optic testing tools preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in using fiber-optic testing tools such as Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDRs), power meters, and light sources.
- Strong understanding of optical laser systems preferred.
- Familiarity with network management systems (NMS) and remote monitoring tools.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and effective problem-solving capabilities.
Job Offer
Competitive base salary $80,000-$100,000
