Accounting Manager - Food and Beverage - NYC

Excellent Accounting Manager opportunity within a leading food manufacturing company. The role will include but not be limited to overseeing the finance team, manage the month-end close activities, and review and/or prepare the balance sheet account reconciliations.

Client Details

My client is a leading food manufacturing company dedicated to producing high-quality, nutritious, and delicious products for their customers. They are located in the NYC area working on a hybrid work schedule.

Description

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and mentor a team of 3-5 accountants, providing guidance and support in daily accounting functions.
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting activities, working closely with other departments to analyze cost control and profitability.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during the audit process and provide necessary documentation for audit reviews.
  • Review financial transactions for accuracy, proper documentation, and appropriate classification.
  • Assist in tax filings and ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • Support senior management with financial analysis, reporting, and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., production, operations) to drive cost-saving initiatives and operational efficiency's.

Profile

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA Strongly Preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Experience in the food manufacturing industry is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to lead a team and work collaboratively across departments.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High level of organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
