Assistant Superintendent

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly organized Assistant Superintendent to support the Superintendent in managing construction projects from start to finish.

Our client is a leading general contractor in Queens, NY, with a focus on projects of various sizes and complexities, seeking a reliable professional to join us in overseeing day-to-day field operations.

Description

  • Assist the Superintendent in daily site management to ensure construction projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and on-site workers, ensuring that all activities are executed according to project plans and specifications.

  • Monitor project progress and provide updates on milestones, challenges, and changes to the project timeline or scope.

  • Help enforce safety protocols and OSHA standards to maintain a safe working environment at all times.

  • Assist with the management of the construction schedule, ensuring that materials, equipment, and labor are available when needed.

  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure work meets the company's quality standards and complies with all local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Support in managing project documentation, including daily reports, safety reports, and change orders.

  • Coordinate with the project manager and other team members to ensure smooth communication and resolve any on-site issues quickly and effectively.

  • Assist with the preparation of project reports and budgets, monitoring project costs and identifying potential savings or overruns.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff and laborers on-site.

Qualifications:

Profile

  • 3+ years of experience in a construction management role, preferably in commercial or residential projects.

  • Knowledge of construction processes, codes, and regulations specific to Queens, NY, and New York City.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with diverse teams and clients.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with project management software and construction management tools.

  • OSHA 30-hour certification (preferred) or a willingness to obtain certification.

  • A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a problem-solving mindset.

  • Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.

  • A degree in Construction Management or a related field is a plus.
