Project Executive - Commercial Construction Projects in RI
A reputable, family-owned General Contractor based in Rhode Island is seeking an experienced Project Executive to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing commercial construction projects within the commercial sector - and ideally with some academic, and/or healthcare projects included in the mix.

Client Relationship Management
- Build and sustain strong relationships with both internal and external clients, adopting a proactive, client-focused approach.
- Gather client feedback regularly and implement improvements to enhance project delivery.
- Stay informed on industry trends and external factors that may impact the business or client needs, ensuring the team adapts to changing circumstances.
Project Oversight & Team Performance
- Oversee the initiation and start-up of projects, collaborating with Project Managers (PMs) to define roles and responsibilities for the project team.
- Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Work closely with the Director of Field Operations to ensure project teams meet objectives and milestones.
- Regularly monitor client meetings to address concerns around budget, schedule, and progress.
- Supervise PM performance, especially in subcontractor/vendor scope review, buyout, and awarding contracts. Ensure proper management of the change order process, including estimating, reporting, and contingency management.
Project Financial Management
- Take responsibility for the financial health of projects by overseeing overall financial performance, including tracking change orders, monthly cash flow, and project projections.
- Review and approve all monthly client requisitions, ensuring accuracy and timely billing.
- Ensure PMs effectively manage accounts payable and receivable for each project, stepping in as the point of escalation when needed.
Business Development Support
- Oversee the pre-construction and estimating phases to ensure alignment with business development goals.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, and engineers to generate new business opportunities and support lead acquisition.
- Continue to nurture existing relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to drive growth and repeat business.
Team Development & Leadership
- Manage the recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of the Project Management team.
- Provide consistent coaching, mentorship, and feedback to team members to foster continuous improvement and professional growth.
Profile
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of experience in the construction industry, including project management and cost estimating, with a focus on commercial construction operations.
- Proven experience in managing client relationships and consistently delivering high levels of client satisfaction.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, or similar).
- OSHA 30 Certification (or ability to obtain).
- Strong background in project financial management, including budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
- Advanced proficiency in project estimating, project delivery methods, and schedule management to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
