EHS Manager - Manufacturing - North Smithfield, RI
The primary purpose of this job is to lead Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) initiatives at the facility level including EHSS site and company goals, EHSS compliance and improvement projects, development and implementation of policies, systems and programs to ensure EHSS excellence and the health and safety of all associates and visitors working at the facility.

Description
- Ensures compliance with all safety, environmental, security, and quality standards, including regulatory and company policies.
- Provides EHS leadership and serves as the subject matter expert, offering guidance to employees.
- Reviews, interprets, and summarizes EHS regulations and standards as needed.
- Develops and implements policies, procedures, training, reports, permits, and monitoring to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations.
- Leads EHS projects and supports initiatives related to safety, ergonomics, environmental protection, process safety, and sustainability.
- Assesses new equipment and existing conditions, identifying risks and implementing improvements to enhance EHS programs.
- Promotes a safe and environmentally responsible workplace, including Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) initiatives.
- Investigates incidents and work-related injuries to determine root causes and track corrective actions.
- Conducts and coordinates internal self-assessments, inspections, and compliance reviews to ensure regulatory adherence.
- Leads or provides direction to EHS committees, emergency response teams, and cross-functional project teams.
- Manages EHS reporting and metrics on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
- Supervises EHS staff or support personnel as needed.
- Ensures compliance with injury reporting and medical care regulations.
- Performs other EHS-related duties as required.
Profile
- Education: Bachelor's degree in EHS, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Science, or a related field.
- Experience: 7-10 years in a manufacturing environment, with at least 4 years in a managerial role.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective time management to meet deadlines.
- Confident public speaker with strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and positively influence others.
- Self-driven and highly motivated.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT, IATA).
- Understanding of site-specific regulations, including radiation, process safety, emergency response, permitting, ergonomics, and worker's compensation.
- Preferred Certifications: First Aid, CPR, AED.
