Client Details

My client is a nation leader in the Food + Bev Distribution space. They have 8 locations nationwide.

Description

  • 3PL Oversight and Management:

    • Oversee and manage relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, ensuring alignment with company goals and standards.
    • Negotiate, manage, and review contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) with 3PL vendors to ensure cost efficiency, quality service, and timely delivery.
    • Regularly evaluate the performance of 3PL providers to ensure they meet KPIs and customer service standards, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
    • Coordinate with 3PL partners to ensure smooth operations, including transportation, warehousing, and order fulfillment processes.
  • Logistics Strategy and Process Optimization:

    • Develop, implement, and refine logistics strategies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of both in-house and 3PL operations.
    • Identify areas for improvement within the logistics and 3PL processes to reduce costs, streamline workflows, and improve customer satisfaction.
    • Work collaboratively with 3PL partners to improve forecasting, capacity planning, and inventory management.
  • Team Leadership:

    • Lead, mentor, and supervise the logistics team, ensuring staff are well-trained and equipped to manage both internal logistics functions and external 3PL relationships.
    • Foster a collaborative and results-driven team environment with clear performance goals, ensuring regular performance reviews and feedback.
    • Promote a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement within the logistics department.
  • Supply Chain and Inventory Management:

    • Oversee the management of inventory levels across internal warehouses and with 3PL providers, ensuring inventory accuracy, availability, and proper stock rotation.
    • Ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment, working closely with 3PL partners to minimize delays or disruptions in the supply chain.
    • Monitor and resolve inventory discrepancies or challenges related to 3PL operations, working with both internal teams and external partners.
  • Compliance and Safety:

    • Ensure logistics operations, including those managed by 3PL providers, comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including food safety and transportation regulations.
    • Oversee the safety of all logistics operations, ensuring that 3PL providers adhere to safety protocols and industry best practices.
  • Reporting and Budgeting:

    • Prepare and present regular reports on logistics performance, including the performance of 3PL providers, cost analysis, delivery metrics, and KPIs.
    • Monitor and control the logistics budget, working with 3PL partners to optimize costs and reduce inefficiencies.
    • Use data-driven insights to propose improvements to both in-house and outsourced logistics operations.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in logistics or supply chain management
  • Extensive experience working with and managing third-party logistics (3PL) providers in the food distribution or perishable goods industry.
  • Strong understanding of logistics, inventory management, and distribution operations.
  • Familiarity with logistics management software and technologies, with experience in working with 3PL platforms.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders in complex supply chain scenarios.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and transportation compliance is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
