My client is seeking a well established Project Manager based out of Lanham, MD. Headquartered in Lanham, Maryland, the company operates across the eastern United States and prides itself on long-standing client relationships, such as a 20-year partnership with Columbia Sportswear. With a lean team of 35 employees, they generate over $60 million in revenue and are committed to work-life balance-avoiding 12-hour days, weekend, or night work whenever possible. Typical projects range from retail and restaurant renovations valued between $200K-$5M to larger hotel builds of $15M-$20M.
Description
The Project Manager will oversee and manage construction projects, primarily within the restaurant and retail sectors. The role requires strong general contracting experience and a focus on scope writing, subcontract development, and meticulous profit tracking. This position offers an opportunity for a seasoned professional to work closely with executive leadership, including training directly under the company president. The role involves occasional site visits, predominantly within MD, VA, and DC, with per diem support for short-term out-of-state travel if necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and execution of restaurant and retail construction projects, valued at up to $5M.
- Develop detailed project scopes and subcontracts, ensuring alignment with project objectives and compliance standards.
- Oversee project budgets and track profitability, ensuring financial targets are met.
- Collaborate effectively with subcontractors and oversee the installation of MEP systems, ensuring high standards and timely completion.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor project progress, maintaining a strong presence on-site as required.
- Utilize MS Office, Microsoft Project, and Timberline software to manage project documentation, scheduling, and communication.
Profile
- Minimum 7 years of general contracting experience, with a strong background in both restaurant and retail construction.
- Proven ability to write detailed scopes and subcontracts; strong familiarity with MEP installations.
- Demonstrated experience in managing project budgets and tracking profits.
- Willingness to conduct site visits weekly or as project needs dictate; occasional short-term travel with per diem provided.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Microsoft Project, and Timberline software.
- Candidates with extensive restaurant experience and a collaborative spirit are highly encouraged to apply.
