Client Details
Our client was founded over 30 years ago as a drywall contractor in Baltimore, MD. After years of gaining a reputation built around excellence and superior service, they expanded their company to include real estate development, general contracting, and construction management. Their projects consist of apartment buildings, entertainment facilities, data centers, and more ranging from $5M to $100M+. They are currently looking to grow their team by bringing on a Safety Manager. This person will start on a large-scale data center project in Northern VA.
Description
The Construction Safety Manager - Data Centers - NoVA will be responsible for:
- Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs for construction projects.
- Create safety training materials and conduct safety briefings for workers.
- Ensure all workers are trained on safety regulations and emergency response procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Review project plans and site conditions to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct regular inspections of construction sites to identify and mitigate risks.
- Perform regular safety audits and inspections to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Evaluate potential risks and implement preventative measures to eliminate or reduce hazards.
- Record and report all safety violations, incidents, and near misses, providing solutions to mitigate future risks.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of injuries, incidents, and safety training for reporting to regulatory bodies and company management.
- Develop and implement corrective actions and follow-up to ensure compliance and prevention.
- Work closely with project managers, contractors, subcontractors, and workers to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Serve as a resource for safety advice and troubleshooting on construction sites.
- Foster a culture of safety by promoting communication and teamwork among all project members.
- Ensure that workers are provided with and properly use necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Monitor and maintain the PPE inventory and recommend replacements or updates when necessary.
- Develop and review emergency response plans for all construction sites.
- Ensure all workers are familiar with emergency protocols and evacuation procedures.
- Coordinate drills and emergency exercises to ensure preparedness.
Profile
The Construction Safety Manager - Data Centers - NoVA will have:
- at least 5 years of relevant experience in construction safety management
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field (preferred).
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar safety certifications (preferred).
- Extensive knowledge of construction site safety regulations and OSHA standards.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Ability to train and educate workers on safety practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
