Manufacturing - CNC Manufacturing Engineer - Hartford, CT
The CNC Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, precision, and cost-effectiveness. The CNC Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate closely with machinists, design engineers, and quality teams to support production goals, troubleshoot issues, and lead continuous improvement efforts.

Description
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement efficient CNC machining processes, including tooling, fixturing, and programming for multi-axis CNC machines.
- Create and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software while ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
- Analyze manufacturing workflows to improve productivity, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste.
- Collaborate with design engineering to ensure manufacturability and provide DFM input during new product development.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Evaluate and recommend CNC equipment, tooling, and technologies to enhance production capabilities.
- Maintain accurate process documentation, setup sheets, and standard operating procedures.
- Mentor and train operators on CNC processes, programming, and quality best practices.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives including 6S, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Profile
Ideal Candidate:
- Minimum 5 years of CNC machining and process engineering experience.
- Advanced CNC programming, setup, and operation skills (including probe and macro programming).
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM and simulation software (e.g., SolidWorks, Esprit, NX, Vericut).
- Strong understanding of multi-axis machining (3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills, and multi-axis mill-turn lathes).
- Excellent grasp of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and blueprint interpretation.
- Experience applying Lean and Six Sigma principles to manufacturing improvements.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
- Experience with PC-DMIS CMM programming, automation engineering, or ERP/MRP systems (Epicor preferred).
- Prior exposure to firearms manufacturing.
- Certifications such as Six Sigma Green Belt or familiarity with AS9100/ISO 9001.
