Controller

The Controller would oversee all accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and regulatory compliance within a construction and real estate environment. Description

The Controller will

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry-specific requirements
• Implement and maintain strong internal controls and financial processes
• Monitor project accounting and track costs against budgets for construction/development projects
• Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions
• Lead and develop the accounting team, providing guidance and performance management
• Deliver financial insights and reporting to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making

Profile

Successful Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within construction, real estate, or project-based environments
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and percentage-of-completion accounting
• Proven experience managing financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor an accounting team
• Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Experience implementing and maintaining internal controls and improving financial processes
• Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial insights to senior leadership
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
