Sr. Quality Engineer - Metal Manufacturing - Fairhaven, MA
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring product quality through the development and implementation of quality control processes and continuous improvement initiatives. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve process-related issues, support product development, and maintain compliance with industry standards.

Description
- Lead and optimize production processes, including finishing, for Nickel, Titanium, and specialty steel products
- Utilize expertise in metallurgical, materials science, or chemical engineering to improve process efficiency, product quality, and workplace safety
- Act as the technical lead for heat treatment and finishing processes for Nickel, Titanium, and specialty steel products
- Provide technical support to enhance processes, improve yields, and resolve process-related non-conformances
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality teams to improve manufacturing processes and standards, ensuring enhanced safety, equipment performance, and product quality
- Participate in or lead continuous improvement initiatives, including risk assessments (RAA), problem-solving reports (PSR), process audits, and standard work development
- Analyze thermo-mechanical processing data to support internal and external customers
- Partner with Product Engineering and R&D to develop, evaluate, and standardize new products and processes
Profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or Chemical Engineering
- Certification in Six Sigma or a similar discipline
- Skilled in statistical data analysis and interpretation
- Extensive technical expertise in metals processing, structure-property relationships, and chemical processes
- Proficient in technical writing and delivering oral presentations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all organizational levels
- Motivated to develop technical expertise and serve as the primary contact in assigned areas
- Comfortable working on the shop floor, observing processes, and collaborating with operators
- Adept at explaining technical concepts and requirements to shop floor personnel in an understandable way
- Independent, proactive, and effective in both individual and team settings
- Applies a scientific, data-driven approach to solving problems
- Capable of managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines while maintaining professionalism
