Client Details
A reputable general contractor is seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join their team in Queens, NY, supporting public sector construction projects. This role involves preparing accurate cost estimates for bids and proposals across a range of agency-driven work, including schools, municipal buildings, and infrastructure upgrades.
Description
- Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment
- Analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes for accuracy and competitiveness
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure alignment between estimates and execution
- Participate in bid strategy meetings and assist with proposal preparation
- Maintain estimating databases and historical cost records
- Ensure compliance with agency requirements, prevailing wage laws, and MWBE goals
Profile
- 3+ years of experience estimating public construction projects in NYC
- Familiarity with agencies such as SCA, DDC, DASNY, NYCHA, etc.
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Timberline, Bluebeam, Excel)
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
