Senior Controls Engineer - Electronics - Lowell, MA
My client is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to join their growing Engineering and Automation team. This individual will play a key role in designing, developing, and implementing advanced control systems to support high-volume, high-precision automated manufacturing and test operations.

Description
The Senior Controls Engineer will report directly into the Engineering Manager and be responsible for:
- Design and implement control systems for custom automation equipment (PLCs, HMIs, motion control).
- Program and debug PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred) and integrate with robotics, vision systems, and other factory automation technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support manufacturing scale-up and new product introductions.
- Develop and document electrical and controls schematics using tools like AutoCAD Electrical.
- Provide troubleshooting and technical support for existing automation and equipment.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for safety, uptime, throughput, and quality.

Profile
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- 5-10+ years of experience in controls engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with PLC programming (Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley strongly preferred).
- Experience with HMI development, SCADA systems, industrial networks, and motion control.
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience with automated inspection, vision systems, or robotics a plus.
