Sr. Electrical Design Engineer | Magnetics
We are seeking an experienced Senior Magnetics Design Engineer to join our Magnetics Design Center Team. In this role, you will develop electrical designs and mechanical configurations for custom transformers, inductors, filters, and other magnetic components.
Client Details
Our client specializes in precision printed electronics, using its proprietary 'Micropenning' technology to directly apply functional materials onto a wide variety of substrates-from flat surfaces to complex 3D shapes. This is a flow-based micro-dispensing method, which enables ultra-fine line printing (just a few mils wide) with excellent edge definition, thickness control, and repeatability-outperforming traditional screen printing techniques .
Description
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret customer requirements and translate them into design specs and success criteria
Design and simulate magnetic components using tools like Ansys, Comsol, and SolidWorks
Run design trade-off analyses, including FEA, and assess prototype performance
Collaborate across teams and with customers to support new product development
Drive cost-effective manufacturing strategies including tooling, assembly fixtures, and inspection processes
Support production with troubleshooting, design updates, and continuous improvement
Lead design reviews and provide support through First Article Inspection and production ramp-up
Develop test plans and control strategies using sinusoidal and resonant waveform simulation
Stay informed about industry advancements and provide insight into opportunities and risks
Participate in team huddles, DFMEA/PFMEA, PPAP, and HALT problem-solving activities
Help improve safety, consistency, and labor efficiency on the shop floor
Support ongoing training in engineering practices including configuration control and supplier management
Profile
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
5-10 years of experience designing passive magnetic components in power electronics
Strong track record of delivering results in custom product development
Proficient in Ansys, Comsol, SolidWorks, and circuit simulation tools (e.g., PSPICE, MATLAB/Simulink)
Strong communication and organizational skills to manage projects and work cross-functionally
Eagerness to stay current with the latest materials, tools, and techniques in magnetics design
Must be eligible to access export-controlled information
