Manufacturing - Automation Engineer - Rochester, NH
The Automation Engineer will design, program, and implement automated machinery and systems to streamline manufacturing processes. This includes creating electrical schematics, programming control systems, performing risk assessments, and leading troubleshooting and validation efforts. The role offers broad exposure to mechanical, electrical, and control systems engineering within a dynamic R&D and production setting.

Description
Responsibilities:
- Design, program, and test automated equipment to optimize manufacturing workflows, safety, and productivity.
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of materials using SolidWorks Electrical or similar software.
- Perform load calculations, power analyses, and ensure compliance with NFPA 70, UL, IEC, and related electrical standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve signal integrity and noise issues using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and network analyzers.
- Support equipment procurement by developing specifications, reviewing vendor proposals, and participating in qualification and validation processes.
- Create and update manufacturing documentation including SOPs, safety instructions, and risk assessments.
- Develop project timelines, scopes of work, and cost estimates; track progress and communicate results effectively.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for automation-related issues.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, production, and maintenance teams to integrate automation into existing processes.
Profile
Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred; Mechanical, Automation, or related disciplines also considered).
- Minimum 4 years of experience in automation, product development, or process engineering.
- Strong background in automation control systems including motion control, servo drives, robotics, vision systems, and safety-rated devices.
- Proficiency in electrical CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 79, UL 508A, and IEC/EN standards.
- Understanding of AC/DC circuits, 3-phase and single-phase systems.
- Hands-on experience designing and wiring electrical control panels for automated machinery.
- Familiarity with FMEA, risk assessment, and design review methodologies.
- Strong documentation and communication skills with experience in quality or ISO systems.
- Willingness to travel domestically or internationally as needed (<5%).
