Director of Construction- Single Family/Multifamily

The Director of Construction oversees all construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of construction processes, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Client Details

This construction firm specializes in new construction multifamily and single family projects. This is a mid sized local constriction firm that has been in business for over 30 years.

Description

1. Project Management:

o Oversee all phases of construction projects, from planning and design to execution and completion.

o Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation plans.

o Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes.

2. Leadership: o Lead and mentor project managers, construction teams, and subcontractors.

o Foster a collaborative team environment to enhance productivity and morale.

o Conduct regular meetings to review project progress, address issues, and implement solutions.

3. Financial Oversight:

o Manage project budgets and expenditures, ensuring cost control measures are in place.

o Review and approve invoices and payment requests.

o Analyze financial reports to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.

4. Stakeholder Communication:

o Serve as the main point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.

o Provide regular updates on project status, challenges, and milestones.

o Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners.

5. Quality Assurance: o Ensure that all work meets the required quality standards and specifications.

o Implement quality control processes and conduct inspections throughout the project lifecycle.

6. Strategic Planning:

o Contribute to the development of long-term strategic goals for the construction department.

o Identify new business opportunities and assist in proposal preparation for potential projects

Profile

Ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of construction management experience in single-family and multifamily construction, focusing on leadership roles.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word, and Marks Systems
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, safety regulations, and project management methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high quality work.
