Our client is a leading, family-owned General Contractor in the Mid-Atlantic region, with a legacy spanning over 50 years. With offices in Northern Virginia, North Carolina, and Richmond, VA, they serve a broad range of markets including multifamily, retail, corporate interiors, and general commercial construction. The company continues to experience strong year-over-year growth, recently in the double digits, and is on track to reach approximately $500 million in revenue within the next 2-5 years. Their Richmond office is currently seeking an experienced Commercial Superintendent to join the team. All projects are located within a one-hour radius of the Richmond area.
Description
The Commercial Superintendent - Top GC in Richmond, VA will:
- Oversee daily on-site operations for commercial construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure project milestones and deadlines are met.
- Enforce compliance with project plans, specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Conduct daily job site inspections and safety meetings; maintain a clean, organized, and secure job site.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to resolve field issues and ensure project alignment.
- Schedule and supervise all phases of construction, from site prep through punch list and project closeout.
- Maintain accurate field documentation including daily logs, progress photos, and subcontractor reports.
- Ensure quality control standards are met and conduct regular inspections of work in progress.
- Manage material deliveries, equipment, and on-site logistics to avoid delays and maximize efficiency.
- Lead coordination and communication between trades to avoid conflicts and promote a smooth workflow.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.
- Monitor project budget and assist with identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to crew members and junior superintendents.
Profile
The Commercial Superintendent - Top GC in Richmond, VA will have:
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction.
- Proven track record managing ground-up, renovation, or tenant improvement projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, and site logistics.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and technical documents.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, MS Project).
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
