Quality Manager- Automotive- Bristol, CT
The Quality Manager will lead a quality team of inspectors, technicians, and engineers at a precision metal components manufacturer, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 ND IATF standards while driving continuous improvement across automotive and medical device production lines at the Bristol, CT facility. Description
The Quality Manager (Automotive) will:
- Lead and manage the quality team, including engineers, technicians, inspectors, and second-shift staff
- Oversee all quality assurance activities across production, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 standards
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in quality systems, processes, and team performance
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal quality issues and customer concerns
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality procedures and documentation
- Train, mentor, and evaluate quality team members to build technical and leadership capabilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in engineering, production, and supply chain
- Analyze quality data and trends to identify root causes and corrective actions
- Support audits, regulatory inspections, and customer visits
- Ensure inspection processes and standards are consistently applied across shifts
- Maintain a proactive approach to risk management and defect prevention
- Foster a culture of accountability, communication, and continuous learning within the quality team
Profile
The successful Quality Manager (Automotive) applicant will have:
- 8-10 years of quality management experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong background in IATF 16949 required
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing and developing quality teams
- Hands-on experience with quality tools such as root cause analysis, CAPA, FMEA, and SPC
- Familiarity with metal stamping, machining, or assembly operations is a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization
- Experience supporting customer audits, internal audits, and regulatory compliance
- Ability to analyze data and drive process improvements based on findings
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Comfortable managing across multiple shifts and functions
- Demonstrated ability to build a positive team culture and resolve personnel challenges
- Experience in high-mix, precision manufacturing environments preferred
