Director of Finance

$150,000 - $185,000/Year

The Director of Finance will serve as a strategic leader, overseeing all financial functions of the organization, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance. Reporting to the Executive Director and serving as a key member of the leadership team, the Director will ensure the financial health of the organization while contributing to long-term planning and operational excellence.

Description

  • Lead and manage all accounting and finance operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, payroll, and monthly close
  • Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and grant reporting
  • Collaborate with program and development teams to support grant budgets, financial reporting, and audits
  • Serve as liaison to external auditors and manage the annual audit and 990 filing process
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to the Executive Director and Board of Directors
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiency and transparency

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
  • Progressive experience in nonprofit finance, including leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and fund accounting
  • Experience managing grants and government contracts
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar)
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment
