Assistant Project Manager

The Assistant Project Manager will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of excavation projects from start to finish. This position involves assisting the Project Manager with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and client communication. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and eager to learn within a close-knit team environment.

Our client is a small, family-owned commercial excavation company committed to providing high-quality excavation and site preparation services to commercial clients. Our client trakes pride in delivering exceptional results while maintaining strong relationships with their clients and team. As they continue to grow, they are looking to add a dedicated and motivated Assistant Project Manager to the team.

Description

  • Assist the Project Manager in the planning, coordination, and execution of excavation projects.

  • Help maintain project timelines, ensuring that projects are completed on schedule.

  • Assist with budgeting and cost tracking, ensuring projects stay within financial constraints.

  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.

  • Support job site safety management, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company protocols.

  • Monitor progress on projects and report to the Project Manager on status, issues, and potential delays.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, permits, change orders, and correspondence.

  • Communicate regularly with clients, contractors, and the internal team to keep all parties informed and address any project concerns.

  • Provide administrative support as needed, including organizing meetings, preparing reports, and tracking project expenses.

  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving on-site issues as they arise.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in construction or excavation, with a preference for prior experience in project coordination or management.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project) and other project management software (knowledge of Procore, Buildertrend, or similar is a plus).

  • Basic understanding of construction processes, excavation techniques, and safety standards.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take direction from senior managers.

  • A strong work ethic and attention to detail.

  • Must be willing to travel to job sites as needed and occasionally work outside regular business hours.
