Assistant Controller
This role involves overseeing core accounting operations, including regulatory filings, audits, tax processes, and month-end close, while managing a small team and maintaining strong internal controls. The ideal candidate will bring at least 8 years of experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency in accounting systems and Excel, with a background in financial services or trading considered a plus.

Description
- Lead the execution of accounting goals by developing action plans, resolving operational issues, and implementing process enhancements.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of regulatory documents and support external audits and tax-related activities.
- Manage accounts payable and general ledger functions, ensuring a timely and accurate month-end close.
- Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations across various financial areas, including revenue and inventory.
- Consolidate financial data and generate specialized reports for internal use and strategic decision-making.
- Guide and mentor team members by setting annual objectives and monitoring their professional development and performance.
Profile
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within financial services or a trading environment.
- Strong command of accounting principles with hands-on experience managing audits, tax processes, and regulatory filings.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor accounting teams while driving process improvements and maintaining internal controls.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Acumatica or NetSuite, along with advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- CPA certification and familiarity with broker-dealer operations or Series 27 license are highly desirable
