CNC Manufacturing Engineer - Peabody, MA

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting CNC machining operations by developing processes, optimizing production methods, and resolving shop‑floor issues to improve quality and efficiency. This role works closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure manufacturability, streamline workflows, and maintain high precision standards across machining operations.

Description

In this role you will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and be responsible for:

  • Reviewing designs for manufacturability, tolerances, and cost considerations
  • Determining tooling, fixtures, and gaging requirements and coordinating procurement or fabrication
  • Preparing setup sheets, sketches, and documentation for shop‑floor use
  • Programming CNC equipment and optimizing speeds, feeds, and cutting parameters
  • Troubleshooting machining issues and resolving process or equipment concerns on the production floor
  • Working hands on with CNC lathes, machining centers, and related equipment
  • Collaborating with engineering, quality, supervision, and machine operators to improve productivity and quality
  • Participating in root cause analysis and corrective action activities
  • Assisting in training machine operators on procedures, setups, and best practices

Profile

The successful candidate will have:

  • An AS or BS degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5 or more years of experience supporting CNC machining operations in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with CNC milling and turning, including programming and setup (mill‑turn experience preferred)
  • Experience using CAD and CAM tools and interpreting engineering drawings and dimensioning standards
  • Experience working with shop‑floor measurement tools, machining practices, and work holding
  • Experience troubleshooting machining issues and optimizing processes
  • MRP or ERP systems familiarity
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
