CAM Programmer - Metals - Newburyport, MA

My client is a well-established manufacturer providing engineered metal products that support commercial and industrial infrastructure. With multiple facilities and a focus on quality craftsmanship, they're known for delivering dependable solutions and long-term value to their customers.
Description
You will report into the Engineering Supervisor and be responsible for:
- Creating and optimizing CNC programs for punch, plasma, and water jet machines using NC Express, Master Bend Cam, Sigmanest, or similar software
- Interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to develop accurate part programs
- Nesting parts efficiently to minimize material waste and maximize machine productivity
- Collaborating with engineers, machinists, and production teams to ensure programs meet quality and production requirements
- Maintaining and updating programming databases and tooling libraries
- Troubleshooting programming issues and recommending solutions to improve efficiency and machine performance
- Creating bills of material and calculating material usage for the MRP system
- Ensuring compliance with safety and manufacturing standards
- Assisting in machine setup and operation as needed
- Performing other tasks as defined by the manager
Profile
The successful candidate will have:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in CNC programming or manufacturing technology preferred.
- 2+ years of experience programming Amada punch, plasma, or water jet machines.
- 2+ years of experience using SolidWorks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and related applications.
- Strong ability to interpret blueprints, GD&T, and fabrication drawings.
- Familiarity with NC Express, Master Bend Cam, or Sigmanest a plus.
- Solid understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes and materials.
