Project Engineer
As a Project Engineer focused on excavation and foundations, you'll oversee the planning, design, and execution of projects involving deep excavations, underpinning, retaining walls, shoring, and other structural earthwork systems. You will serve as a technical expert and project lead, collaborating closely with contractors, geotechnical consultants, and municipal agencies.

Our client, a well-established Civil Engineering firm based in New Haven, CT, is seeking a Licensed Project Engineer with specialized experience in excavation and foundation systems. This is a critical role for an engineer looking to apply technical expertise to complex site development and structural support projects across Connecticut.
Description
As Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:
Lead engineering efforts on excavation and foundation projects from concept through construction.
Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, calculations, and geotechnical reports.
Coordinate with geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, and construction teams to ensure constructability and safety.
Oversee field investigations, site inspections, and quality assurance during construction.
Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and permitting requirements.
Develop budgets, timelines, and technical solutions to support efficient project delivery.
Mentor junior engineers and provide leadership on multidisciplinary project teams.
Profile
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Connecticut is required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in excavation, shoring, and foundation engineering.
In-depth knowledge of soil-structure interaction, earth retention systems, and deep foundation techniques.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and relevant structural or geotechnical software (e.g., RISA, PLAXIS).
Strong project management and communication skills.
Ability to lead field operations and resolve on-site engineering challenges.
